"Opus 7 - Seattle's finest vocal ensemble"
—Bruce Reid

"They manage everything from earthy choral roars to icy, transparent purity. Needlepoint intonation and unearthly ensemble top the high heap of the choral strengths."
Lindsay Koob, American Record Guide, January/February 2005

"this radiant vocal ensemble"..."this resplendent vocal ensemble"
"(And for those keeping track, thanks to the readers who e-mailed me adjectives for this group last December. I'm saving them for warmer weather.)"
—Christopher DeLaurenti

"The group sings beautifully to a member, no matter what is set before them"
—The Stranger Guide to Seattle

"They sing with especially clean tone and sensitive phrasing"
—Victor Hill, Ph.D., The Journal of the Association of Anglican Musicians, Sept., 2003

"Opus 7 is one of the reasons some might say Seattle is in a golden age of choral singing"
—R.M.Campbell, Seattle P-I

Spring Folly

Saturday, May 17th at 8:00 p.m
St. Mark's Cathedral

Leap into the joy of Spring as Opus 7 lets down its collective hair in its biannual Spring Folly concert, which is quickly becoming a favorite of local audiences. Featuring humorous works and mu sic inspired by the romantic season of Spring, this concert will also showcase works by the winners of our Student Choral Composition Awards and the world premiere of Joy for women’s choir by Opus 7’s composer-in-residence, John Muehleisen.

Humorous works on the program include "God's Bottles" by Randall Thompson & "The Wee Wee Man", a virtuosic choral fairy tale by Danish composer Vagn Holmboe.

The sweet season of Spring is celebrated in works such as "The Jolly Tar an the Milkmaid" and "Sing of Spring" by George Gershwin, and with the 2008 election just a few months away, we've uncovered some satirical election-year advice from Benjamin Britten, Jack Gottlieb & Charles Ives's "Vote for names."
